That is almost 5,000 cups per minute! In an attempt to end this waste and change people&#8217;s habits, UK-based sandwich chain\u00a0Pret a Manger\u00a0has been offering 25 p discounts to customers using reusable cups since 2017, alongside Costa and Starbucks.<\/p>\n<p>The chain has now doubled the discount to 50 p on hot drinks.\u00a0CEO Clive Schlee said he hoped that doubling the discount would make a difference, following other initiatives to reduce waste such as not using plastic cup stoppers in inner city Pret shops.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Schlee tweeted: \u201cI\u2019m delighted you can now get 50 p off a hot drink when you bring your reusable cup to Pret. I hope this will make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month he said the company was considering the move \u201cto help change habits.
