The world would be a much better place to live in if we could all convert our petrol and diesel vehicles into electric. Thanks to an Indian startup, this might just be possible! Hyderabad-based startup – BharatMobi – has developed a unique retrofitting kit that can convert your present car into a pollution-free, gearless, noiseless vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was during their time at SRM University, Chennai (2014-2018) when Hyderabad natives Akbar Baig and Ashhar Ahmed Shaikh converted a Maruti 800 and Maruti Esteem into electric vehicles and found out that the upgrade did not affect the overall performance of the vehicles adversely.\u00a0Convinced that electric vehicles represent the future, they carried forward this idea of converting already existing cars to electric power sources and established their startup in 2017.\u00a0 So far, the startup has converted 30 vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to\u00a0The Better India, Ashhar says their EV retrofitting or conversion technology offers the best choice to contribute for a pollution-free India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have chosen this retrofitting model to address three major concerns that India is facing \u2013 air pollution, traffic congestion and lack of infrastructure for vehicle scrapping,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
