Over 1,000 retired and private practice doctors and nurses in NYC volunteer to fight Coronavirus
As New York City continues to battle the Coronavirus with more and more people testing positive every single day, over 1,000 retired and private practice doctors and nurses have volunteered to help treat the growing number of patients by joining the medical reserve.
“I think that’s so inspiring, so many people are coming forward to help and that’s how we’re going to beat this back,” Mayor Bill de Blasio told WCBS-880AM.
They join the 9,000 medical professionals already registered with New York City’s Department of Health as part of the Medical Reserve Corps. to pitch in during times of emergency.
De Blasio is also recruiting medical students and asked the federal government for help from other parts of the country.
