Location : Kerala, India & New York, USA (2017) Contact Information : Sujith Koshy, Alex thomas, Suja S, Jeslin Varghese
Donors: Kaduvinal Family, GBRI
Budget : $ 500-600 (100% funded)
UN Sustainable Development Goalsthat are addressed : No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Reduced Inequalities
Project Start Date : 12/1/2017
Problem
Many of us in the United States give and get several gifts big and small during the Holiday season. In fact, we get so much more than what we need that we go and sell the un-wanted presents on e-bay. Sadly, there are millions of people on the same planet we live who doesn’t even get the basic necessities. The idea behind this mini project is to bring smiles to kids and adults who otherwise will have nothing for the holidays.
Solution
Last year, I-Believe Project Manager took the lead in taking around 25 kids from an orphanage for shopping for clothes and threw a small dinner for them. This year, our research showed that the orphanage was in good shape and hence we decided to help a different group of kids and adults. We decided to buy dresses for our scholarship winners and a few other kids and invite them for a Christmas Lunch.
Current Status
I-Believe Project Managers Sujith Koshy and Alex Thomas worked with our local Teacher Suja.S to organize this mini Christmas Shopping and Lunch. The group invited the kids and their parents to Sujith’s house where the family arranged the lunch and some goodies. The kids and parents were so happy to be part of the warm family Christmas celebration. I-Believe is looking forward to hosting a similar Holiday event every year. This is a project that many of us could easily implement in our hometowns during local festivals.
We want to support more public schools, provide more scholarships, empower more children, give more families security during the difficult times and change their lives in a sustainable way. We believe success should be measured by the lives we impact. But we can’t do it without you, so we’re asking you to get involved.
