Teenage crane operator rescues 14 people trapped in a burning building
A Chinese teenage crane operator Lan Junze is being hailed as a hero after he bravely managed to rescue fourteen people trapped inside a burning building.
Lan was working at a construction site in Fushun when he noticed a seven-story building catch fire. The 19-year-old took quick action and rushed to the spot with his crane. A video showing the braveheart using his crane to rescue residents from the fire has gone viral.
One of those saved was Dong Xiuyan, who lived on the third floor. “I tried to go through the door twice, but I failed,” Dong told Chinese broadcaster CCTV. “I got very anxious. Then I thought we could get out from our window.”
Lan reportedly heard Dong’s screams for help and drove his crane to the scene of the fire, which was just 300 meters away.
